MONET
Monet is perhaps one of the most destinctive artists of all time, his work is instantly recognisable with his repetitive techniques and similiar subjects. The impressionist painter primaraly and, quite obviously, took inspiration from nature but he was also heavily influenced by Eugene Boudin and Edouard Manet. When comparing it's easy to see how Boudin's landscape paintings influenced Monet and how similar Manet and Monet's portraits are. It's interesting to see how, while he is known for being the 'founder' of French Impressionism, he still takes interest and ideas from older artists. The fresh ambience that comes from his paintings are created from his loose and expressive brush strokes. He once said he 'likes to paint as a bird sings', and this is definitely present in his thick dabs and curls of paint. My personal favourite painting by Claude Monet is The Rose Walk, which depicts multiple halo-like rings in hues of red's, blue's and yellow. The Rose Walk stands out from many of his other art works as the colours are richer and darker, a stronge change from his usual pastel, muted colours.
