VALERIE HEGARTY

Valerie Hegarty's 'deteriorating' art is something I have enjoyed for a few years. My favourite work of hers are often her instillation pieces, where the artwork surpasses the canvas and is beginning to grow along the walls. I have tried to take inspiration from her pieces; I worked into a broken guitar and placed vines and plants into it to create the effect of it growing out from the decaying wood. I like the idea that nature always has a way, that even in something dead or rotten there is still life growing. Her work inspires me to get a better grasp of this and working harder to convey this across my work.
