HENRY TONKS

Henry Tonks was a British surgeon and war artist during the First World War. He produced pastel studies of facial injury cases in soldiers. My project isn't focused on war, but I like the idea of taking inspiration from these studies of facial disfigurements and incorporating them within my theme of nature/decay. I plan to make studies similar, but more related to the natural decay of the body, or contrast it with man made ailments, eg. injuries from smoking.
