MICHAEL GORBAN
Michael Gorban is a German born artist who currently resides in Israel, he is probably most known for his window paintings, something which influenced me during one of my projects. In nearly all of his window paintings, on the window sill there is always a vase of flowers. While the window is the centre piece of his oil paintings, The flowers are always painted vibrantly, with the light from outside often shining on to the display. I decided to look at Gorban during my painting project, where I was often painting a window from my studio view. It was fun to experiment with different views from the window, and placing different objects along the window sill, like Michael Gorban, His work has been displayed along side Salvador Dali and Wassily Kadinsky, He has said that "painting is a sensual experience... I will not sign my name until I am completely satisfied". Showing how much time and care must go in to each piece. It's engrossing to look through the countless window pieces Gorban has done, as he has painted so many different sceneries. I particuarly like his paintings at dusk, where strips of light shooting through the windows, and his autumnal scenes where he uses beautiful tones of yellows, reds and browns.
