ANDY LLOYD

Andy Lloyd's work, to me, seems like the type of art work you would see on a bedroom wall, generic images of graceful women walking by a cafe or the eiffel tower, it isn't this side of his work that interests me, but instead his paintings of actresses. I feel like my work is most like his in his style, he describes his work as 'not photorealistic... accurate detail with a certain degree of personal expression' which is where i feel my work is at the minute. I want to progress and develop my work into more realism but that doesn't seem like a goal for Andy Lloyd. I like his neutral and delicate use of colours in his portraits, something i tend to do not on purpose but usually because i'm careful with using blacks and dark colours, scared of how easy they can change a painting. i feel like my painting technique seems similar to Lloyd's, with the way skin colour is applied and singular brush strokes, something i can take away from the artist's work is his attention to single strands of hair. This is something i struggle to paint, and with my style being similar to this artist's, I think if i studied his paintings more I could begin to improve my own paintings and progress further.
