JONATHAN YEO
Jonathan Yeo's paintings have earned him countless solo exhibitions, he is recognized internationally for his detailed portraits, even producing commissions for The Duke of Edinburgh, and The Duchess of Cornwall. I like the style of his work, particularly the pieces he leaves partially undone where you can see the base layer he has applied. His exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London featured mostly celebrity portraits like Helena Bonham Carter and Kevin Spacey. His portraits always focus on the face, the background is often blurred and he often, like the painting above of Cara Delevingne, doesn't paint the hair or even the neck, but still leaves the outline so you can picture the rest of the painting for yourself. I love the hyper realism style in portraits and Jonathan Yeo is a good example of someone who inspires my portraits and helps me to persevere in improving my painting skills.
