THE CASE FOR JACKSON POLLOCK

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U19VOF4qfs

In this video, published by The Art Assignment, we explore the impact Jackson Pollock's work has had on modern art and how he began this style of painting. Pollock is one of the earlier artists who I can relate my work too and this video shows the spontaneity, while at the same time structure, of his work which I find really interesting. Personally, I feel like Pollock is often referred to as a joke of an artist, but his work has a lot more meaning then people initially think. This video discusses the distance between the canvas and the brush as the distance between deliberation and accident; this is something I find really interesting within Pollock's work and take a lot of inspiration from. This brief documentary offers a deeper look into the artists intentions and general life, ultimately helping others get a better understanding of these historic pieces.
