JACKSON POLLOCK

I've recently been looking into Jackson Pollock's drip paintings to support my own art work. Pollock's work during his 'drip period' (1947-50), particuarly his brighter coloured paintings, i take great inspiration from. the spontaneous and confident drip markings give a very demanding presence that is almost quite intimidating. while aesthetically i like his paintings, i think more about the making of them and how he created the different drips, similar to the way i do with my own. when i look at his paintings i think about what he was thinking, how he was feeling and what he did to make the bolder markings on the paintings. i think what fascinates me so much about Jackson Pollock's work is that so many people 'don't get it', some people just see lines. sometimes you have to dig deeper into paintings; and thats what i want people to do with mine.
