TATE LIVERPOOL

Last week I visited Tate Liverpool primarily to see the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition, but also to see work from artists like Mark Rothko, Picasso, Gillian Wearing and Andy Warhol. Mark Rothko's work was particularly interesting as they look quite different in person. the colours aren't as thickly applied as i thought and the paint looks quite thin in person. You can still see the brushstrokes and in some cases still see the canvas which I like. I think this a prime example of an artist whose work you need to see in real life; the feel of the painting changes and you can really see the process of the painting, something you can't see from just an image.
