MARCEL DUCHAMP WITH MOMA

I recently watched a video by the MoMA discussing Marcel Duchamp's infamous ready-mades. Duchamp massively changed the art world and forced us to rethink our understanding of art and the artist. Duchamp is an artist I will be looking at in my dissertation as I am focusing it around material significance and originality in contemporary art. In the video, curator Ann Temkin discusses how audiences, still 100 years later, are viewing the work and asking 'why is this art?'. Duchamp got people to question what people took for granted for years and I feel his work is always good to reference back to if you are wanting an understanding of just how much art has changed in the past 100 years.
